| Biking for a Cure The Hope, Hams, History and Hospitality Bike Tour Saturday, April 26th |
| Three circuits to suit all riders |
Our Family Ride to historic Fort Boykin Park, situated high on the bluffs of the James River about 6 miles west of Smithfield. Construction was begun in 1623 to protect the colonists from Indians and raiding Spaniards. The fort, built in the shape of a seven pointed star, has been in every major campaign fought on American soil. 35 Mile Experienced Ride In addition to Fort Boykin, our 30 mile ride features the newest attraction in Isle of Wight County – Fort Huger, the gateway to the Confederate Capital. View the ghost fleet on the James River, take the docent-led walking tour through the new trails and see the cannons mounted along the edges of the fort. 50 Mile Expert Ride Those seeking a longer ride may combine the tours of the two Forts with a loop by Bacon’s Castle in nearby Surry County. Learn the role played by this cruciform shaped house with triple chimneys in the 1676 Bacon’s Rebellion. |

| Thank you to all of our riders for making our inaugural Tour a great success. Over $2800 was raised in the fight against cancer. See you next year for the 2009 H4 Bike Tour (April 25th, 2009). Special thanks for the great support provided by the Smithfield Police Department, Isle of WIght Sheriff's Department, Virginia Dept of Transportation and Isle of Wight Rescue Squad. |
